Karen commenced her career with Brentnalls SA Chartered Accountants in 1989 as a Junior Accountant. She achieved her Bachelor of Accountancy in 1994 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1996. She became an Associate of the firm 1 January 2000 and went on to become a Partner on 1 July 2003.
Karen’s focus on systems and procedures is invaluable in her work together with her accounting and tax expertise. She also holds a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning.
Karen became a Fellow of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand in 2008, is a Fellow of the Taxation Institute, a Chartered Tax Adviser and a Fellow of FINSIA (Financial Services Institute of Australasia).
Through her in depth knowledge of training Karen joined the Chartered Accountants Women’s Committee at the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand in 2005 and became Chair of the Committee at the end of 2009. Although handing over the reigns to the Committee in 2012 it continues to provide opportunities for networking and professional development for Women members and their business colleagues.
In the past, Karen has been Honorary Treasurer for the Golden Grove Kindergarten and was also involved in the Northern Districts chapter of the Leads Club, taking on various terms as Treasurer, Assistant Director and Director roles on the management committee.
Now, after completing her training in Collaborative Practice in March 2017, Karen enjoys assisting separating couples and their solicitors to find a mutually beneficial matrimonial property settlement of their assets which minimises any taxation burdens on the family.
